And when she turns her back and refuses to bow to the system of dominance and power, her execution is stellar. Lijomol Jose as Senkanni, in her lonely battle for justice, delivers a stunning performance. But the crux is caste atrocities and police brutality. In the beginning, it might seem like a documentary, talking about the tribes, but after the first half an hour, the movie takes a different turn when Senkanni comes to fight for her rights and find her husband. The dialogues and acting are very emotive. In the scenes where the Irula tribes are picked up by the police, the audience themselves feel like as if they are being taken away by the police for enquiry. Gnanavel has carefully sculpted each scene, as he tells the story by standing in the shoes of those affected. Bringing it into mainstream cinema is altogether a new effort. Gnanavel should definitely be appreciated for taking up the cause of Irula tribes, who are a semi-nomadic ethnic group without even a community certificate or recognition from the government. Days later, a burglary happens in the residence. His job is to catch a snake in the latter's home (Irula tribes are known as expert snake catchers). One day, Rajakannu goes out to work for one of the village heads. Rajakannu (played by Manikandan) and his wife Senkanni (played by Lijomol Jose) are Irula tribes living in one of the most backward regions of the state. Rajakannu, a man from the tribal community, is taken into custody by the police for a theft case. The film is set in Kammapuram, a village in the Virudhachalam district, 225km north of Chennai. Sam CS has scored once again after ‘Vikram Vedha’ BGM and the movie lights up the tone with his score. The movie has rich technical values and editing has been crisp. However, it’s the young kid who stands tall among everyone else. Prabhu Deva already acted in a dance movie earlier and we can call this movie just a sequel to it. ![]() Karunakaran provides laughter and Kovai Sarala is apt in her role as school headmistress. Prabhu Deva is adequate in his role and once again he lives upto the tag of ‘Indian Michael Jackson’. So in case if you don’t have an interest in dancing, stay away! Sam CS Music and Nirav Shah cinematography are big assets for the movie.ĭivya Pandey, Aishwarya Rajesh has done decent roles and they have given their 100%. The whole movie is based on ‘Dance, Dance, and only Dance!’. Now enters Prabhu Deva and he requests one more chance for Lakshmi and he coaches her.Īfter a lot of struggle, Lakshmi enters Pride of India championship and whether she won the trophy or not forms the rest of the story. Due to that loss, she loses mentally and she’s upset. She even participates in a dance show which is conducted by Chennai Dance Academy and she loses in that. So Lakshmi joins a dance school without her mother’s notice and learns dance. But Lakshmi’s mother doesn’t like dance and she’s totally against it. Her ambition is to participate in India’s topmost dance show and win the championship. In fact, she feels dance in every movement of her life. Lakshmi is a 10-Year-Old school and dance is her passion and everything.
